about us

Hello and a warm welcome to Llwyndu Farmhouse, a cosy private hotel for Bed & Breakfast with a very nice restaurant right on the coast of Snowdonia. We are near the old fishing & trading village of Barmouth at the mouth of the stunning Mawddach Estuary. Located just north of the town with breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay from the hotel.

You will find some of the most beautiful and soulful landscapes in Britain around us and you can enjoy them at a relaxing and slower pace than you may be used to. Spending a few days at Llwyndu will definitely unwind you and everything we do is designed to achieve that for you.

You can fill your days for sure with a busy itinerary but why not amble slowly around this magical landscape where you are never more than a few hundred yards away from complete peace and solitude on magnificent beaches or beautifully rugged mountains. To some it's a bit of a shock - but a very a pleasant one though!

We offer some varied and interesting bed & breakfast accommodation that respects the old farmhouse, which was built around 1581, and its 18th century granary. Sleep in comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and good size ensuite bathrooms. All very snug and warming and a great place to chill for a few days.

The cooking is excellent and you can eat interesting, well executed and delicious food. We choose our ingredients - meat, fish, cheese, fruit and vegetables from local suppliers and Welsh producers. We select beers, wine, sherries from a UK regional wine merchant of the year winner - because we like them and think you will too. We have just received another Highly Recommended in the British National Cheese Awards for our cheeseboards for 2012 & 2013..

We love the atmsophere here and we like to welcome visitors to these very interesting buildings that ooze with rustic and historic character - a great departure from the modern antisceptic chain hotel.

There are great delights outside as well. The views across the bay to the Lleyn Peninsula, fantastic sunsets and at night, when clear, the view of the stars is a great surprise to many people who stay with us. The twilight is also a great time to watch out for bats.

So come and join us for a few days and let us look after you while you explore the delights of this beautiful region in and around Barmouth and Snowdonia.
